Neil is a true citizen of Canada having lived on both coasts and several provinces in-between. Born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Neil spent his childhood moving around the province from Wabush, Labrador to Norris Point in the heart of Gros Morne National Park. He spent his adolecence in Elliot Lake, northern Ontario and Sussex, New Brunswick eventually landing in Terrace Bay on the north shore of Lake Superior. Neil later headed to college in Kingston, Ontario where he studied Graphic Design.
After graduation in 1992, Neil dabbled in art as a hobby while starting a design career in Kingston, he headed to Vancouver for a few years before headed back to Ontario, landing in Toronto to continue his design career. In 2004 Neil made the move back to Kingston to open his own design studio Outport Design and teach in the same program he attended more than 10 years earlier. Neil currently works part time as an executive and design leader at a tech start-up in Kingston while focusing more and more on growing his skills as an artist while defining his visual voice while continuing to grow his audience.
Neil's journey with creating art is fluid and organic as he draws upon inspiration from his east coast roots, the beauty of where he currently calls home: Eastern Ontario and the 1000 Islands. Inspiration can be found in everyday objects and often, yesterday objects with a hint of nostalgia.
Neil's work has been displayed at various businesses around Kingston and Toronto including Kingston City Hall's Artist Showcase as well artwork can be currently seen at Crave Coffee Shop and the gallery at 33 Vines Vineyard in the County.
